Job description:
In this role you will maintain and extend the production data center operations of a high frequency algorithmic trading application service provider. You will work with a team to design, implement and maintain solutions for scaling the required technical infrastructure across multiple data centers. You will also be responsible for specifying solutions that may be implemented by vendors, and you will be responsible for managing such vendors in those instances. This position is only open to applicants with prior experience implementing production trading environments in the financial industry.
Responsibilities Include:
- Implementing HA strategies at the host, network, and data center levels
- Working with support and development to support application level HA strategies
- Implementation and maintenance of DR site policies and technologies
- Centralizing management of server and application software versioning and configuration
- Evaluation of data center offerings as part of a service growth strategy
- Designing scalable procedures and policies for maintaining growing, multi-data-center deployments.
- Creating and maintaining a knowledge base, support scripts, documentation and administration procedures.
- 7 years UNIX (Linux) System and Network administration
- 4 years maintaining and scaling production trading environments.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Strong ability to remain focused on business requirements while implementing technical solutions
- Ability to clearly document configurations and processes in a manner that others can maintain them
- Very Strong experience in TCP/IP Network Administration
- Excellent knowledge of Cisco IOS configuration of Layer 2/3 network security, VPN implementation, Routing protocols (EIGRP, RIPv2, BGP, OSPF), trunking and etherchannels, firewalling, failover configuration.
- Experience deploying HP, IBM, or Dell blade infrastructure in conjunction with SAN storage.
- Strong experience in EMC Clariion storage management including cross-data-center replication, integration with backup strategies, storage access via iSCSI, FC, NFS, SAMBA
- Strong experience in centralizing system software and configuration management
- Experience establishing connectivity to market data sources and trading counterparties through extranets such as Radianz, TNS, SFTI
- Has procured hardware, collocation and telecommunications services
- Excellent shell/perl scripting skills
- Experience deploying VMWare Infrastructure or alternatives, e.g. Xen
- Experience deploying Veritas Cluster Services or alternatives, e.g. Redhat Cluster Services
- Experience overseeing managed hosting vendors
- Understanding of multi-terabyte storage management strategies
- Familiarity with Java software build/release processes
